We are pleased to inform you that Balkan Gas Hub EAD is expanding its product portfolio with a new service – “LNG Auction Service”.

The new service is designed for the organization and administration of competitive procedures for the supply of liquefied natural gas through the BGH platform. It is developed similarly to the already existing “Auction Service”, while taking into account the specific features of LNG deliveries and the need for prior review of participants’ eligibility documents.

The service may be used by LNG traders and importers, as well as by gas transmission system operators. In this way, Balkan Gas Hub EAD provides a new technically supported mechanism for conducting competitive LNG procedures in line with the specific requirements of this supply.

The procedure is carried out in two stages. The first envisions within a dedicated electronic environment, part of the BGH Information System, participants submit the required eligibility documents and declarations. After the review of the documents is completed, eligible participants are granted access to the trading environment in order to participate in the specific LNG auction. In the second stage, the auction is conducted in the Trayport trading environment through a dedicated screen for the LNG procedure, within a defined time window and under pre-announced participation rules.

With the introduction of the “LNG Auction Service”, Balkan Gas Hub EAD continues to develop market-based, transparent and competitive mechanisms for natural gas trading. The service creates conditions for broader access to alternative natural gas sources, promotes competition, and contributes to guaranteeing of the security of supply in the region.
